Bulgaria's Greens party has officially requested the annulment of the election results in the capital Sofia by submitting a claim with the Sofia Administrative Court.

The move came in the aftermath of another claim, submitted with the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) on Election Day, which was left without a response.

The left-wing Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) also announced they were considering a similar claim.

In their declaration, sent to the media, the Greens stress the October 23 presidential and local elections were the most flawed in the country's modern history since 1990 - elections where a huge number of Bulgarian citizens were falsely entered in the so-called "banning lists"; elections overrun by total chaos and lack of adequate number of voting polls, which prevented many from exercising their right to vote.

According to the Greens, other violations include transparent ballots, allowing members of the voting polls' electoral commissions to see how a particular person has voted; many mistakes in the ballots over the lack of preliminary information of how they should have been filled, and large-scale vote buying.

The claimants insist the responsibility belongs to the ruling, center-right Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria party (GERB) and to the fully tainted Central Electoral Commission. They point out blatant violations in the counting of the ballots; ballots being taken to places banned by the law, and the large number of missing or invalid voting polls' protocols.

"These are results, achieved in the condition of psychological terror, corporate pressure on voters, and direct trade of votes, alleviated by the transparent ballots. These elections brought us back to totalitarian times," the declaration concludes.
