The construction of family farms is among the spheres in which Bulgaria can help Senegal with its expert potential, Bulgaria's Foreign Minister Nikolay Mladenov stated after he met with his Senegalese counterpart Madike Niang in Sofia on Thursday,

"Today, we put together an ambitious plan for recovering the economic and political contacts between the two countries. Bulgaria and Senegal can contribute very much to the developments of their respective regions," Mladenov said, as cited by the BGNES news agency,

The Bulgarian Foreign Minister further pointed out that Senegal is an important gateway for Bulgarian investments in West Africa.

"Senegal is turning into one of Bulgaria's key destinations in Africa," Mladenenov added.

"Senegal is very happy to have Bulgaria as its partner," Madike Niang declared and thanked for the "brotherly welcome" he received in Sofia. He stated that Bulgaria and Senegal have a great potential to cooperate in the spheres of economy, science and international relations.

Niang also thanked for the assistance his country will receive from Bulgaria in the construction of family farms, since he believed it would help Senegal cope with starvation

Niang, who is invited by Mladenov, has become the first Senegalese top diplomat to have ever visited Bulgaria. His visit in the Balkan country will continue on Friday.
