Meglena Kuneva, Bulgaria's former EU Commissioner and currently a non-partisan presidential candidate, cast her vote on Sunday, declaring she hoped for a high voter turnout.

"My choice consists of three words – I believe you," Kuneva told the media upon voting. "I believe all those people who are mature enough to choose, I believe all Bulgarians – that was my thought while I was voting," she added.

Kuneva also declared she was thankful for all she had gone through since she started her pre-campaign tours across the country.

The former EU Commissioner's excitement resulted in a little blunder, as she initially forgot to take the sealed integral ballot with her before entering the polling booth.

Kuneva has been tipped to finish third in Bulgaria's presidential elections, behind ruling centrist-right GERB's candidate Rosen Plevneliev and left-wing Bulgarian Socialist Party's Ivaylo Kalfin.

However, according some polling agencies, Kuneva still stads a chance to reach the run-off next Sunday.
