Ivan Kostov, former Bulgarian PM (1997-2001) and current co-leader of the right-wing Blue Coalition, voted in the country's presidential and local elections on Sunday.

"I voted for the Blue Coalition – for (Sofia mayor candidate) Proshko Proshkov and (presidential runner) Rumen Hristov," Kostov declared, as cited by dariknews.bg.

"I expect these elections to be democratic, since there have been a lot of worries and suspicions recently that they may not be democratic. There has been too much violence, too much corruption in the political system," he stated, as cited by news.bg, adding he believes the local administrations are now infected, too.

Sunday's parliamentary and local elections in Bulgaria may turn out to be a test for the country's new Electoral Code, which may lead to severe criticism towards the code's authors, according to Kostov.

He also expressed his worries that the electoral rolls contain a far greater number of people than the recently conducted census in the country should suggest, which he believes might lead to voting manipulations.

The former Prime Minister also predicted that the voting activity would be low, since in his opinion, the ruling centrist-right GERB and the oppositional left-wing Bulgarian Socialist Party have not campaigned in favor of attracting more people to vote,
