Meglena Kuneva, a Bulgarian presidential runner, has filed a complaint with the country's Central Electoral Commission concerning two tabloid articles about her published on Saturday.

Kuneva, a former Bulgarian EU Commissioner and currently a non-partisan candidate, has stated the articles published in the "Every Day" tabloid violate the country's electoral code, according to which any form of campaigning is banned during the so-called "day of reflection" directly preceding Sunday's elections.

"Kuneva's Husband Took Part in BGN 1 B Shady Deal" and "How Sofiyska Voda Was Given Away?" are the titles of the two articles dealing personally with Kuneva. (Sofiyska Voda is the company operating water supply and treatment services for the Bulgarian capital Sofia).

The presidential candidate has demanded that all campaigning materials against her be gathered or destroyed.

She has further declared that the articles published on Saturday are lies aiming to harm her and her family.

Meglena Kuneva is expected to finish among the top three candidates in Bulgaria's presidential elections on Sunday, with most polling agency placing her third behind the ruling centrist-right GERB's Rosen Plevneliev and left-wing Bulgarian Socialist Party's Ivaylo Kalfin.
