Photo Shows Wounded Gaddafi Covered in Blood after Arrest

A photo showing former Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi struggling for his life and covered in blood has been released after his capture.

The picture released by EPA shows a man who bears a strong resemblance to Gaddafi wearing blood-soaked clothing and with blood across his face. However, the authenticity of the image has not been verified.

Various sources from the Libyan rebels' Transitional National Council have reported Gaddafi died in captivity of his wounds Thursday afternoon, shortly after the news broke that he was captured in Sirte, his last bastion and hometown.

The body of Muammar Gaddafi is reported to be taken to a top secret location in Libya for security reasons, an official of the Transitional National Council, Mohamed Abdel Kafi, told Reuters.

Al Jazeera Arabic reported that Muammar Gaddafi was shot in the head after fighters surrounded the hole he was found hiding in. They then took him to Misrata.
