For a short period In the late 70ies, Marek was among the top Bulgarian football clubs. They eliminated Hungarian champions Ferenzvaros and even recorded a spectacular home victory against Bayern Munich (2:0, UEFA Cup, 1977) before being knocked out of the tournament.

However, Marek are currently relegated to Bulgaria's third division.
