Council of Europe Joins OSCE with Observers to Monitor Bulgarian Elections

A delegation of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe will observe the holding of local elections in Bulgaria on October 23, which coincide with a presidential vote, the CE announced.

The delegation of the Council of Europe will meet with government representatives, including members of the Central Electoral Commission on October 21-22 in Sofia.

It will also hold talks with observers from the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE).

On October 22, six delegations of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities at the CE will arrive in several Bulgarian district to observe the elections the following day.

The CE delegation will present its initial report on the Bulgarian elections on October 24.

The Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) at the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, OSCE, announced on September 28, 2011, that it will monitor the October 23 local and presidential elections in Bulgaria.
