The Cabinets of Bulgaria and Romania are to hold their first ever joint sitting on Wednesday, the Bulgarian government press service announced.

In its brief statement, the press service explained that the joint sitting of the Cabinets of Boyko Borisov and Emil Boc will take place on October 12, 2011, in Bucharest.

The sitting will also feature bilateral talks between the two prime ministers and the other Cabinet members with respective portfolios.

"The aim of the sitting is to strengthen direct cooperation between the institutions from the two states, encouraging contacts on political and economic level, and exchange of information in spheres of mutual interest," the announced states.

It adds that Bulgaria and Romania will sign several bilateral documents (including declarations, memorandums, and agreements) in the fields of defense, home affairs, economy, environment, and social policy.

To date, Bulgaria's Cabinet has held joint sittings only with the Cabinets of Greece (in 2010) and of Israel (in 2011).
