A Bulgarian man living in London has made a parachute jump with a winning ticket for the EuroMillions lottery before collecting his earnings.

The 43-year-old housekeeping manager Georgi Traykov, a former member of Bulgaria's national sky diving team, has won GBP 1 M from EuroMillions, London24 reported.

He made a sky-diving jump to celebrate his lottery win explaining it as part of the sky-diving tradition.

"It's a tradition at the airfield that anyone who reaches a milestone such as their hundredth jump, must buy everyone drinks. I figured that jumping with a million pounds must be worth a beer, Traykov is quoted as saying.

The Bulgarian man, who has been living in the UK for 15 years, almost missed out on his prize because he only plays when the jackpot reaches more than GBP 70 M.

The winner even played a couple of other games before remembering to check his previous ticket from September 6, London24 reports.

Even when he finally checked his tickets at the terminal in his local garage and was advised to call Camelot, George still went about his day before finally checking the ticket at 2am online.

"I generally consider myself lucky. I have a beautiful daughter, great home and a job I truly love working in the private hospital, The Princess Grace in London. But hopefully this will make a huge difference for my daughter including being able to continue her sky diving training. Although she's only 12 she is already 'jumping' at a wind tunnel in Milton Keynes," the man said. He bought his winning ticket in Regent Street, London.
