Veselin Zlatev Heads Bulgaria's Consumer Rights Watchdog

Bulgaria's cabinet appointed Wednesday Veselin Zlatev as Head of the State Commission for Consumer Protection, KZP.

Until now Zlatev was an advisor on regional policy of Prime Minister, Boyko Borisov.

KZP was without a permanent leader for about a month, after the previous, long-time Chair, Damyan Lazarov, resigned under Borisov's pressure. Alexander Maslarski, who was a member of the Commission, was appointed its temporary head.

The reshuffle was motivated with the need for "improving harmonization and more visible effort to carry out practices in consumer protection."

During the Wednesday meeting of the Council of Ministers, the cabinet also released from duties, on his own request, Ognyan Varadinov, who was a KZP member until now.
