Rosen Plevneliev, former Regional Development Minister and current presidential candidate of ruling center-right party GERB, continues his European tour.

After his meeting with German Chancellor Angela Merkel in Berlin, he headed for Paris, where Bulgarian-born music star Sylvie Vartan wished him success at the upcoming elections.

The two discussed opportunities for improving Bulgaria's image abroad.

Vartan showed readiness to finance the construction of a new museum in Bulgaria or to support Sofia's National Music School "Lyubomir Pipkov" with money from her foundation.

The French pop star and Plevneliev also talked about the celebrations of Vartan's 50th anniversary as a performer, which are to be held in November.

During a Tuesday meeting with Plevneliev in Berlin, the German Chancellor expressed her support for GERB's presidential candidate.

Merkel met with Plevneliev within a sustainable growth discussion organized by the CDU headquarters and the Konrad Adenauer Foundation in Berlin.

The party of Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov has boasted close ties with Merkel and her party, the Christian-Democratic Union of Germany.

"Lots of good news about Bulgaria are reaching me. You are sending only positive signals about the development of your country, I support you, and I wish you success in the elections," Merkel told Plevneliev.
