Bulgarians no longer want to be ruled like before, and their rulers are no longer able to rule  them as before, stated Bulgarian President Georgi Parvanov Tuesday.

In these words, Parvanov referred to the classical definition of a revolutionary situation given by Lenin, while in Sliven on a round trip of the country before the expiry of his second and constitutionally last term in office January 2012.

"When one observes what is happening across the country, the situation is certainly close to being revolutionary," said the Bulgarian President referring to economic stagnation and what he perceived to be abuse of power on the part of ruling center-right party, PM Boyko Borisov's GERB.

Regarding the upcoming October 23 elections for his successor, President Parvanov recalled the situation around his first election for office in 2001.

Back then, incumbent rightist candidate Petar Stoyanov was unanimously pointed out as being the favorite in the race, but events in the last minute made Parvanov win the second round.

"In this campaign, things might again happen which will overturn the perceived certain win of GERB's candidate Rosen Plevneliev," said Parvanov Tuesday.

The outgoing president has not hidden his favorization of Bulgarian Socialist Party candidate Ivailo Kalfin, who has worked as his aide before being elected for a MEP.
