Russia Dashes Bulgaria's Hopes for Medal at Eurovolley Q/final

The men's volleyball team of Bulgaria was ousted from the 2011 European Volleyball Championships by losing their quarterfinal game against Russia 1:3 sets.

The quarterfinal, which was played Thursday evening in Czech city of Karlovy Vary, started out even in the first and the beginning of the second sets.

The Bulgarians went to win the first part with 25:22 and started out nice in the second, but in the middle of the set the Russians took over, winning at 19:25.

In the remaining part of the game, the Russian team dominated, going to win the third set with 18:25 and the last with 19:25.

Bulgaria finished second in Group D of the tournament, after first losing to Slovakia (2:3 sets) and then winning against Poland (3:1) and Germany (3:1).

To reach the quarterfinal against Russia, they defeated the team of Estonia (3:0 sets) in a playoff game Wednesday.

In their Saturday semifinal, the team of Russia will face Serbia, who defeated France in another quarterfinal earlier Thursday.
