Cameron, Sarkozy Pledge More Aid for Libya during Historic Visit

British Prime Minister David Cameron and France's President Nicolas Sarkozy promised more aid for Libya as they met with representatives of the country's new Transitional National Council in Tripoli.

Sarkozy and Cameron arrived in Tripoli last night to become Western leaders to visit Libya since dictator Muammar Gaddafi was toppled and fled in August in the face of a massive rebel assault backed by NATO air strikes.

''This is not finished, this is not done, this is not over; there are still parts of Libya under Gaddafi's control, Gaddafi is still at large and we must make sure this is completed,''  Cameron declared. ''We will help you to find Gaddafi and bring him to justice," he said, as cited by The Sydney Morning Herald.

"What we did, we did without any agenda because we wanted to help Libya because we wanted to prove there was no enmity in east west relations," Sarkozy told reporters.

Mustafa Abdel Jalil, chairman of the Transitional National Council, underlined that France and Britain's supportive role will have a future influence, even though no contracts have been signed.

"As a faithful Muslim people we will appreciate these efforts and they will have priority within a framework of transparency," Jalil stated.
