Manchester United coach Sir Alex Ferguson has reiterated that striker Dimiter Berbatov is not the club's "forgotten man", even though he was snubbed for a Champions League game one again.

Berbatov was on the bench during United's 1-1 draw with Benfica on Wednesday evening.

The Bulgarian hitman, who was last season's joint top goalscorer of the Premier League, he has just one substitute appearance since the start of the new season. However, Sir Alex has stated he would be given chances to prove himself worthy again.

"Dimitar has been training terrific. His attitude is spot on. He will get his game time as the season wears on. There is no question about that," Ferguson has declared, as cited by Sky Sports.

"It is hard because of the number of strikers we have," Ferguson has pointed out. "Michael Owen is there, Federico Macheda, Mame Biram Diouf. Danny Welbeck won't be back next week but probably the week after. It is not easy.

As Berbatov was not sold during the summer transfer window, rumors emerged that the Red Devils consider offering him a new lucrative 2-year contract.

PSG were reported on several occasions as hoping to sign Berbatov during the summer transfer window, together with the likes of Valencia, Bayern Munich, Juventus, Malaga and Russian billionaires Anzhi Makhachkala.
