2.6 Earthquake Felt in Southern Bulgaria

A light earthquake with a 2.6-magnitude on the Richter scale has been registered in southern Bulgaria Sunday evening.
The information was reported by the Geophysics Institute at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, BAS. The shock occured at 10 pm Sunday.
The quake has been felt by residents in the area of the southern city of Haskovo, the town of Simeonovgrad and in two nearby villages. The epicenter was 290 km south of the capital Sofia.
There are no reports of material damages or injuries.
According to the European Seismological Center, the shock was at a depth of 2 km with an epicenter 40 km south of the city of Stara Zagora and 2 km south of the town of Dimitrovgrad.
