Top Cop Counts 262 Crime Groups in Bulgaria

There are exactly 262 organized crime groups active in Bulgaria an the country's Interior Ministry know of all of them, Interior Minister Tsvetan Tsvetanov has claimed.

Answering a question by an oppositional left-wing MP about measures on organized crime, Tsvetanov further noted that 121 individuals have been neutralized.

The Minister declared that all groups committing murders and abductions have been uncovered and no more politically affiliated individuals could emerge in organized crime groups.

Unemployment and poverty are the main reasons for the increase in misdemeanorsin certain regions, Tsvetanov said, adding that his Ministry considers deploying more police force in these regions. However, he reminded that security was "an expensive service".
