Bulgaria's GERB ruling party nomination for October 23 presidential elections was revealed Sunday to mark the 10th anniversary of the relationship between party founders and leaders, Bulgarian PM Boyko Borisov and vice-PM Tsvetan Tsvetanov.

This confession was made at the Sunday GERB press conference by GERB vice-chair and boss of the election team Tsvetan Tsvetanov.

"Exactly 10 years ago, September 2001, PM Borisov and I got to know each other," said he at the start of the press conference.

"We started out together on that day, and if anyone had told us then than in a couple of years we'll be involved in politics, we probably would have just laughed," added Tsvetanov, who is also Bulgaria's Minister of Interior.

The GERB party was created in 2006 and first headed by Tsvetanov. At the time, PM and current GERB leader Boyko Borisov was mayor of Bulgaria's capital Sofia.

During part of Borisov's term as mayor 2005-9, Tsvetanov was Sofia vice-mayor in charge of security.

"As I was listening to Tsvetanov's words today, I reflected how much we've gotten old since back then," reflected the Bulgarian PM Sunday.

He vowed to continue working hard for achieving palpable results in Bulgaria's well-being and development.

Sunday GERB nominated Minister of Regional Development Rosen Plevneliev and Minister of Justice Margarita Popova for their candidates for president and vice president, respectively.
