Bulgaria will send police officers and medics in Libya in an effort to help the African country's stabilization process, Bulgarian Foreign Minister Nikolay Mladenov has said.

"Our country can put its efforts into the establishment of a new system in Libya, as well as into the recovery of the Libyan healthcare system," Mladenov revealed Friday after he met with his Brazilian counterpart Antonio Patriota in Sofia. Bulgaria's top diplomat said his country was willing to export medications to Libya.

Mladenov commented on the "Friends of Libya" summit in France, stating it made clear that the establishment of Libya's new institutions could happen only with the active participation of the United Nations.

Earlier on Friday, Bulgaria's Prime Minister Boyko Borisov also declared that the Balkan country was ready to support the new Libyan rebel government of the Transitional National Council (NTC) by sending medical teams and teams for the training of the new Libyan police force.

Borisov pointed out that his country will be relentless in asking compensations from Libya over the Bulgarian medics who spent years in Libyan prison on charges they have purposely infected local children with AIDS.
