The slogan of Bulgaria's ruling party GERB should read "We Are Robbing Bulgaria", rather than "We Are Building Bulgaria," according to the opposition Socialists.

After on Sunday, the ruling center-right party GERB of Prime Minister Boyko Borisov announced its slogan for the October 23 presidential and local elections is "We Are Building Bulgaria," on Tuesday, the leader of the opposition Bulgarian Socialist Party and former PM, Sergey Stanishev, used word play to interpret the slogan differently.

"I pondered for a long time over what GERB's real message in their slogan is. The difference is in one letter "Грабим България" (i.e. "We Are Robbing Bulgaria"), rather than "Градим България" (i.e. "We Are Building Bulgaria")," Stanishev said in Sofia Tuesday.

"I am impressed with Stanishev's wittiness," was the laconic, joking comment of Prime Minister Boyko Borisov and GERB leader shortly after that.

According to Bulgaria's Interior Minister Tsvetan Tsvetanov, who is the head of GERB's election campaign headquarters, the new motto is an extension of the previous one "Let's Show that Bulgaria Can" used during the 2009 parliamentary and EU Parliament elections.
