Libyan fugitive dictator Muammar Gaddafi's daughter Aisha has given birth to a baby girl just a day after she and other Gaddafi family members fled to Algeria, it was reported Tuesday.

Aisha was initially expected to give birth in September.

"She had a little girl. Mother and daughter are doing fine," a government official has said, according to the Daily Mail.

Gaddafi's wife Safia, daughter Aisha (34) and sons Muhammad (41) and Hannibal (35), as well as their families, crossed the border between Libya and Algeria early on Monday after a dramatic escape from rebel forces. They were all granted refuge in the country, which enraged the new Libyan government.

Rebels have declared the move an "act of aggression against the Libyan people" and said they would use all legal means to compel them to return.

Algeria is yet to recognize the Transitional National Government as Libya's legitimate authority. Gaddafi's family members may have already left the country in an unknown direction, a Libyan rebel spokesman revealed earlier on Tuesday.
