Bulgarian runner Vanya Stambolova has reached the finals of the 400 meters hurdles discipline at the Athletics World Championships in Daegu, Korea.

Stambolova aced her semifinal, finishing a leading first at 54.72 seconds, well ahead of Elena Churakova (Russia) and Kaliese Spencer (Jamaica), who finished second with an equal time of 55.02 seconds.

Jamaica's Spencer is the great favorite in the discipline, but experts believe that the Bulgarian has all chances of winning a medal.

Vanya Stambolova will race at the final of 400 meters hurdles Thursday at 3.15 pm EET.

Monday Bulgaria's Ivet Lalova finished number 7 in the 100 meters final, being the only European at the race.

Tuesday she commented she has a good feeling for the 200 meters competition.
