The candidates of the ruling Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria, GERB, party to run for president and vice president are people well-known to the public.

The information was revealed Monday by the GERB Member of the Parliament and Chair of the Parliamentary Legal Committee, Iskra Fidosova, who said the late date of revealing their names – September 4, is not a problem since there would be enough time for the two to campaign.

Fidosova spoke in an interview for the TV channel bTV from the party's renovated offices at the National Palace of Culture, NDK, in downtown Sofia, which were officially opened Sunday.

The MP pointed out her party would be the very first one to announce both its presidential and vice presidential candidates, since the rest are yet to inform the public on the latter.

However, the leader of the far-right, nationalist Ataka party, Volen Siderov, who is running for president, has already stated that his nomination for vice president is the Ataka MP, Pavel Shopov.

Bulgaria's first and ex EU Commissioner, Meglena Kuneva, formerly from the party of King Simeon Saxe-Coburg – National Movement for Stability and Prosperity (NMSP), even though now in the race as an independent, has also announced Rumen Hristov as her candidate for vice president.

During the official ceremony for the opening of the renovated party headquarters, Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister, Tsvetan Tsvetanov, declared GERB was ready with their presidential nominations, however, he refused to offer any concrete names, as did Fidosova on Monday.

The renovation works took six months, but the opening ceremony came one week ahead of schedule – party leader and Prime Minister, Boyko Borisov, had said on several occasions the name of the GERB nomination to run for President on October 23 will be revealed on September 4 to coincide with the day the ruling party was going to show their new offices.

"Let those to people do their jobs at posts where they are now,"Fidosova said in the interview.

She declined binding the name of Regional Minister, Rosen Plevneliev, the highest ranked member of the cabinet Borisov, with the GERB's election campaign slogan "We Are Building Bulgaria," revealed by Tsvetanov Sunday, saying the new motto is an extension of the previous one "Let's Show that Bulgaria Can."

"We proved Bulgaria can build, can be financially stable, can carry out reforms, can have modern healthcare and education. The word build is a natural continuum of everything we have been doing so far to build and develop Bulgaria," the GERB MP declared.

Fidosova confirmed her party is not receiving at the moment any donations from private individuals for the election campaign and is working only with the State subsidy.
