Some parts of Libyan dictator Mummar Gaddafi's capital Tripoli are still putting up stiff resistance against the advancing rebels, according to reports.

Even though earlier on Monday, the rebels claimed they control 95% of Tripoli, correspondents of the BBC and other international media have reported that the Gaddafi forces are still fighting back in some parts of the city, including through the use of snipers.

While some of Tripoli's districts are firmly in the hands of the rebels, respectively the Libyan Transitional National Council, and have seen celebrations as of the night of August 22, substantial swaths of the city are still said to be under the control of Gaddafi loyalists.

The whereabouts of Libyan dictator Gaddafi himself remain unknown, according to the rebels.
