Most unemployed Bulgarians are looking for work for over a year, according to a poll conducted by Gallup International of the request of the Classa newspaper.

Despite reports Bulgaria is nearing the end of the economic crisis, the labor market remains tight. Over 60% of the polled are searching for jobs for over a year while their share is the highest in the last 4 years.

In the northeastern Targovishte Region, 80% of the unemployed lack education and skills with half of them registered in the Labor Bureaus longer than 12 months.

The crisis and the shrinking production stop local companies from hiring new workers while the few job openings are for qualified employees. Meanwhile, one of the Targovishte jobless people told the Bulgarian TV channel bTV that education and experience often do not matter and the most important factor is to know the right people.

According to the statistics, people in the Region who find it the most difficult to land a job are middle-aged, live in villages, and have elementary education.
