Special Police Ops Hits on Illegal Weapons in Bulgaria

An illegal shop for remaking and altering weapons and explosives has been busted in Bulgaria's central town of Kazanlak during a special police operation.

The news was reported Wednesday morning by the Head of the Regional Police Directorate in the city of Stara Zagora, Commissar, Alexy Aleksiev.

Aleksiev further says the special police operation started Tuesday, around noon, and continued all through the night with police raiding a number of addresses in Kazanlak, believed to be connected to an organized crime group. Several people have been arrested, but their exact number is unknown.

An expert probe of the seized weapons, explosives and ammunitions and of their origin is pending. Authorities are continuing their investigation.
