The wife and the son of the man who committed suicide Tuesday by crashing his car in a bus have warned the police about his state hours earlier.
The two called the police to tell them the man is mentally unstable and drunk, according to a report of the Bulgarian National Television, BNT.
"We told the police he had consumed lots of alcohol and is dangerous and needs to be stopped. We told them where he was going – to our village home in Izvor – the only possible place," says Momchil, the son.
According to the young man, his father used an ATM in the southwestern town of Slivnitsa and that's how the family was able to find out about his whereabouts, after which they called the police.
Momchil claims the police did not pay any attention to them – during the call they pretended they "could not hear or really did not hear." The mother and the son had to repeat the information and insisted it was important, but no one reacted.
"He was drunk and in a car, which made him dangerous," the son told BNT.
According to the official report of the Interior Ministry, the police received the notice four minutes before the incident.
