A domestic dispute left seven people dead in the Copley Township in northern Ohio in the US.
An 11-year-old girl is among the casualties while 2 remain in the hospital. Their condition is not known.
Five people were shot in one location and then two nearby, Police Chief Michael Mier told Channel 3 News.
The gunman, who has not been named, was later shot dead by the police.
Witnesses say the violence is believed to have begun as a family argument. They told local media that many of the victims were family members of the gunman.
Copley has 14 000 residents and is located near Akron, in the northeastern part of the US State of Ohio.
