A total of 800 kg of Bulgarian punny ben mushrooms covered with lavrae have been busted by Italian health authorities.

The frozen mushrooms have been found in Padova and were supposed to be distributed to local restaurants, according to the Bulgarian Telegraph Agency, which has cited the Italian Padova Oggi.

No more details on the case have been disclosed.

In October 2010, Italian health authorities discovered 12 kg of the extremely poisonous fly agaric, again imported from Bulgaria, and set to be distributed to Rome supermarkets.

Italy imports mushrooms mainly from Romania, Bulgaria and Macedonia.
