Royal Palace Was on Target List of Norwegian Gunman

Norway's royal palace and the headquarters of the ruling Labor Party were among the targets of right-wing terrorist Anders Breivik.

"During his interrogation, he said that he had planned to attack other targets, but on July 22 it was only the seat of government in Oslo and Utoeya," the island where young Labor Party supporters were holding their summer camp, prosecutor Paal-Fredrick Hjort Kraby said, as quoted by , the Bulgarian Telegraph Agency (BTA).

A total of seventy-seven people were killed in the bomb attack in Oslo and the shootings on Utoeya.

The royal palace is believed to have been on the target list due to its symbolic value, while the Labour headquarters were hit because of its attempts to impose a multi-cultural society.

"I would not like to comment on the number or nature of the targets he had in mind. They are obvious targets for a terrorist and the idea is to hit the government," Hjort Kraby said.

In the meantime, it was announced that a number of retail chains in Norway had decided to stop selling computer games containing elements of violence for an indefinite period of time.

According to a publication of The Voice of Russia, the move was prompted by the fact that the Norwegian gunman had admitted to playing one of the 'first person shooter' games for almost a year during the preparations for his terrorist attacks.

The owners of the chains explained their decision with feelings of solidarity with the families of the victims.
