Norwegian police authorities are currently checking an "unusually placed" item of baggage at Oslo's central train station.

"We have not found anything suspicious yet, so if we do not discover something during the next half hour, our work is done here," a police official has told the Dagbladet daily.

"We have probably found the owner of the baggage item," the same official has said.

Earlier on Wednesday, Norway's police authorities said they were searching for a 42 year old man who "identified" with terrorist Anders Behring Breivik, according to Herald Sun. The man was reportedly released from jail Monday.

Norway is on the alert after twin bombing and shooting attacks on Friday left 76 people dead, the worst bloodshed in the country since WWII.

Anders Behring Breivik, 32, has admitted carrying out the massacre on the island youth camp and the bombing in the capital Oslo in which at least 76 people died.
