A Spanish company presented in the capital Sofia several large-scale projects for new sports facilities.

The projects are for a new national stadium and two others – one also in Sofia and and one in the second largest city of Plovdiv.

The company has been invited to prepare the design by Bulgarian football legend and now Consul in Spain, Hristo Stoichkov, who was present at the event. Prime Minister, Boyko Borisov, Sofia's Chief Architect, Petar Dikov, Regional Minister, Rosen Plevneliev, and the Minister of Sports and Youth, Svilen Neykov, were also in attendance.

The new national stadium will be called "Arena of the Rose," and will be located near the International Airport. It will have 40 000 seats and seen from above it will look like a rose. There will be three additional fields, a hotel and stores in the vicinity of the facility.

The now-abandoned Sofia "Septemvri" (September) stadium will be rebuilt and will have 15 000 seats, two smaller fields, a park and a shopping mall.

The Plovdiv stadium will have 25 000 seats and will be suited for different sports such as football, track and field, swimming and tennis. It will be called "Olympic Treasures" and will be a public-private property.

Borisov, delighted by the presentation, immediately said a tender for investors is to be launched ASAP.
