Disciplinary penalties will be imposed on four judges at the Sofia City Court (SCC), while four other SCC magistrates face warnings and reprimands, the Inspectorate at the Bulgarian Supreme Judicial Council (VSS) announced after conducting a probe at SCC's Criminal Division.

The sanctions will be imposed for unreasonable delays in proceedings.

The check spans the period January 01, 2010 – June 16, 2011.

Three judges, Emilia Koleva, Andrey Angelov and Atanas Atanasov will be lauded for excellent execution of public duty.

One judge will be specifically reported to VSS due to his recurrent failure to cope with a huge backlog of unreasonably delayed trials amid a track record of penalties imposed for past infringements.

Three days ago, the VSS Inspectorate declared that it would penalize five criminal judges at the Sofia Regional Court.
