The Bulgarian cabinet must speed up the administrative reform in helping the small and medium business, according to the Bulgarian EU Commissioner for International Cooperation, Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Response, Kristalina Georgieva.

Georgieva, who is a former high-ranking World Bank official, said this business must be top priority because it is the most flexible and the fastest in creating new jobs.

"This is the right time for the cabinet to seek ways to help, to alleviate conditions and ease access to financing so that people feel the care instead of just promises that by keeping macro-economic stability, we will have a better live in some more distant future," the Commissioner stressed Thursday in an interview for Darik radio.

According to her, the sectors that are top exporters perform well, but in case economic growth in Europe slows down, it would affect Bulgaria and for these reasons the government has to revise its policies towards the small and medium business and open doors to reforms that must be implemented – administrative, health care, education.

"It is true we have the lowest taxes, which is important for the country's stability, but one must seek new solutions in such difficult times. People expect to live well and the cabinet is chosen to find ways to encourage the economy. Taxes are great, but many people complain to me of administrative hurdles," Georgieva concluded.
