Sofia Regional Prosecutor Reelected for Second Term of Office

Sofia Regional Prosecutor Alexander Nalbantov has been re-elected for a second term of office by Bulgaria's Supreme Judicial Council (VSS).

His bid received unanimous support, with 20 votes for, none against and no abstainers.

Nalbantov's only rival, Boyko Atasov, failed to attract a single vote.

During his hearing, Nalbantov presented his achievements for his 5 years in office, stressing that he had managed to downsize the share of delayed trials from 90% in 2006 to the current 0.4%.

He was elected through a non-anonymous ballot, as required for all administrative heads of court in Bulgaria as of January 2011.
