Italian giants Juventus have submitted a cash offer for Manchester United unsettled striker Dimitar Berbatov, reports say.

The offer is worth EUR 8 M, Itasportpress says. The former Bulgaria international has been a target for Juve for much of the summer, even though Atletico Madrid striker Sergio Aguero was said to be their main choice.

Berbatov finished the season as Premiership's joint top goalscorer, but spent much time on the bench as he was outshone by in-form Javier Hernandes. The Bulgarian forward now has less than a year to run on his current United contract.

In 2008, Berbatov joined the Red Devils for a club record GBP 30.75 M transfer. The Bulgarian hitman has also been linked with Valencia, PSG, Roma and Bayern Munich.
