Internet Site Joins Appeals to Fire Bulgarian PM

A new internet page has been created, joining appeals to fire Bulgarian Prime Minister, Boyko Borisov.

The latest action comes on the heels of the Monday one when billboards saying "I will fire Boyko Borisov!" popped up at the exits of the Bulgarian capital Sofia. The author of the statement remains unknown.

"The stopwatch is already working. You will receive more information on July 17, 2011 at 1 pm," the site says.

It has a picture of the PM and visitors can vote to fire him. By 12:30 pm some 2 500 have voted, but there is no limit of the number of votes per person.

The "I will fire Boyko Borisov" sign appeared a week after a Facebook group declared July 5 a "Day without Borisov." The first suspects about the authorship of the billboards became the young activists of the opposition Bulgarian Socialist Party, BSP, since they participated in large numbers in the Facebook campaign, but the BSP youth organization issued a declaration that they had nothing to do with the billboards.

The leader of the conservative Order, Law and Justice Party, RZS, Yane Yanev, known for the large number of billboards promoting him before the 2009 general elections, also denied involvement.

The billboards were removed several hours after their appearence.

An investigation of the Bulgarian daily Dnevnik showed the billboards are owned by the DMD Consult advertising agency, which refused to reveal the name of the person who placed the order. They only said the same person has ordered another 100 billboards. It is unclear if they are only in the capital or in other cities.
