Michigan Man Kills 7, Commits Suicide amid Hostage Standoff

A 34-year old Afro-American went on a killing spree deadly in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Thursday afternoon, shooting seven people to death, wounding another two and eventually committing suicide.

Among the victims of Rodrick Dantzler are his own daughter, his ex-girlfriend and one other child, Police Chief Kevin Belk said, as quoted by abcnews.

Four bodies were found at one location in and three other bodies were discovered at second location, according to the police report.

During the highway chase, Dantzler Mr. Dantzler opened fire at a downtown intersection, wounding one woman in the arm and putting numerous holes in the windshield of a police car.

Another person was injured when Mr. Dantzler apparently shot through the back window of his vehicle.

After crashing his vehicle, the 34-year-old man raided a nearby home, taking three occupants (two women and a man) hostage.

Later on, he released one of the women, saying that he wanted to surrender.

As the police were communicating with Dantzler, he shot himself in the head.

The two hostages who remained in the house, a man and a woman, were unharmed.
