Bulgaria Overjoyed, Gets to Host Volleyball World League Finals in 2012

Bulgaria has been selected to host the finals of the World League 2012 of the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB).

The President of the Bulgarian Volleyball Federation Dancho Lazarov announced Monday night he had just been notified by the FIVB that its executive committee decided to award the organization of the 2012 World Volleyball League finals to Bulgaria.

"We are extremely happy and proud with this decision of the FIVB, which, I assure you, is the product of enormous efforts and a lot of work of the entire leadership of the Bulgarian Volleyball Federation," an excited Lazarov stated.

The Federation head further stressed the fact that the tournament is going to be hosted in Bulgaria will help bring Bulgarian volleyball to a new level on the international stage.

The finals of the World Volleyball League in 2012 will technically become the first large-scale global competition in a major team sport to be hosted by Bulgaria.

The World League finals are going to take place in the Sofia Arena, aka National Sports Arena, the first modern sports arena in Bulgaria that can seat more than 5,000 people. It will be inaugurated at the end of July 2011.
