Bulgaria's top female tennis player Tsvetana Pironkova has lost the women's singles quarter final match at Wimbledon 2011 to Petra Kvitova of the Czech Republic.

Even though she put up a great fight, especially in the second set, and even though the audience of the Wimbledon Championships at the All England Lawn Tennis Club, in London, was cheering for Pironkova lost 2:1 (3:6, 7:6, 6:2).

She did make a comeback by winning the second set in the quarter-final women's singles match at Wimbledon 2011, originally scheduled for 1 pm GMT but started only at 5:38 pm because of rain.

After losing in the first set, Pironkova managed to come around in a very tough game against Kvitova, winning the second set after a tie-break.

Pironkova, who made it to Wimbledon's quarter-final after kicking Venus Williams out of the tournament for second year in a row, had never won against Kvitova.

The two had played only two matches, both in 2008, both won by the Czech tennis player.
