Bulgaria's Tsvetana Pironkova has lost the first set in the quarter-final women's singles match at Wimbledon 2011 to Petra Kvitova of the Czech Republic.

The match, originally scheduled for 1 pm GMT started only at 5:38 pm because of rain.

Pironkova, who made it to Wimbledon's quarter-final after kicking Venus Williams out of the tournament for second year in a row, has never won against Kvitova.

The two have played only two matches to date, both in 2008, both won by the Czech tennis player. However, the Wimbledon quarter-final is their first match on a grass court.
