Nationalist Ataka MP Nikolay Pehlivanov is his party's nominee to run for mayor of Bulgarian capital Sofia, announced leader Volen Siderov Tuesday.

Currently Pehlivanov is a vice-chair of the Committee of Regional Development in the Bulgarian Parliament.

Pehlivanov's ambition is to achieve better results for his party in Sofia than before.

Leader Sierov said that his candidate had the advantage of not being implicated in Sofia politics before, but has the relevant qualification.

Pehlivanov is an urban architect by education and has chaired a number of construction companies.

For the fall municipal elections, Ataka also plans to achieve 5 town councilors against their present 3.

Pehlivanov is now the third officially named nominee for Sofia Mayor. The other two are the Bulgarian Socialist Party's Georgi Kadiev and the rightist Blue Coalition's Proshko Proshkov.
