Bulgaria's marginal, conservative Order, Law and Justice (RZS) party has demanded a probe of the income of President, Georgi Parvanov.

Party leader, Yane Yanev, says in the 10 years of his two terms in office, Parvanov got BGN 700 000 in salaries, pay for official trips and other official expenses, but had declared only BGN 10 000 and a second-hand automobile.

The Conservatives made the allegations at a special press conference, but failed to produce any written proof with the promise they will do it at the next such press conference.

The press office of the President immediately issued a statement, pointing out the budget of the Presidential Office is debated and approved by the Members of the Parliament, including those from RZS. The President does not sign and manage the said budget either, the statement reads.

The declaration explains that the 2011 presidential budget is BGN 4 186 000 and, in 2010, this budget has been reduced by BGN 1 M.

It further states that for his numerous local trips, during both terms, Parvanov had never used the State funding slated for them and paid from his own pocket, while for official trips abroad the funds are equal to those given to any Bulgarian official.
