A Romanian driver has lost his life in a crash in Southwestern Bulgaria on Monday.

The crash occurred on the railway crossing of the E-79 road near Dupnitsa.

The three Romanians traveling in the car were headed for Greece on a business trip as the Romanian Gianni Doganu fell asleep on the wheel according to the Bulgarian authorities and crashed his jeep into a car in the opposite lane, whose driver was not hurt.

As a result, the Romanian's jeep fell off the road into a 15-meter deep precipice, and died of the impact.

Two other people, a Romanian family – Mario and Georgiana Gaitanero – also traveling in the car – survived with only light injuries.

The Bulgarian fire-fighters spend three hours trying to recover the dead man's body from the crashed jeep.
