Bulgarian Right Wing Decides on Election Runners

Bulgaria's right-wing Blue Coalition is holding Sunday preliminary elections to designate their nominations for President and Mayor of Sofia.

The partners in the Blue Coalition – Democrats for Strong Bulgaria (DSB) and Union of Democratic Forces (UDF) have published on their official internet sites a list with addresses of 700 voting polls, located mainly in schools.

30 000 are expected to cast their ballot. The polls are open from 8 am to 8 pm. Voters are required to have ID cards.

The contenders for being nominated as presidential candidate are political scientist, Svetoslav Malinov, for DSB and economist and former Agriculture Minister, Rumen Hristov, for UDF.

The contenders to run as Mayor of Sofia are the UDF municipal councilman, Vladimir Kisiov, and the Mayor of the Sofia's "Lozenets" district, Proshko Proshkov, for DSB.

During the week, the leaders of UDF and DSB, Martin Dimitrov and Ivan Kostov, appealed to everyone, regardless to party affiliation to cast their ballot.

The opposition Bulgarian Socialist Party's, BSP, nomination for Mayor of Sofia, Georgi Kadiev, promised to take part in the vote.
