Bulgaria's former Culture Minister and Member of the Parliament from the opposition Bulgarian Socialist Party, BSP, officially declared he has no intentions to run for President in the fall.

In a Monday interview for the TV channel bTV, Danailov, who is also one of Bulgaria's most popular movie and drama actors, currently featured in the hit series "Glass House," said he lacks the motivation to be Head of State.

The former Minister pointed out someone must be motivated in order to do any job, admitting he had thought long and deep about his own presidential bid.

Danailov informed he had been unofficially approached about a possible nomination on numerous occasions and by many, and had said "no" each time.

"I lack many of the qualities a President must have, such as skills in foreign policy, good understanding of the society in Bulgaria; I am not a great speaker and I don't know English," the actor pointed out.

According to Danailov, BSP must have its own nomination for the post instead of supporting those from other parties or independent bids such as the one of Bulgaria's former and first EU Commissioner, Meglena Kuneva. He said that BSP could think about supporting others only if their candidate fails to reach a possible second round.
