The foundation of Bulgarian international star Dimitar Berbatov bestowed for the third year in a row its awards to the country's most talented children.

The ceremony was held at the National Palace of Culture in downtown Sofia. More than 1,000 children and parents gathered Tuesday evening with the hope of being able to take a glance at their idol.

The Bulgarian football star gave the awards personally to fourteen winners in different categories and told them to be persistent, to follow their dreams and strive to reach their goals.

"I have a dream. I dream that one day I will be invited at a ceremony, where one of these children will hand out the awards," Berbatov said.

"I am very proud of their successes and believe that each one of them, not only those who got the awards, can make huge progress in their fields and make their dreams come true.

"It would be really wonderful if one of the girls and boys, who is awarded today, manages to preserve the tradition and pass it on. I will be truly happy. More than ever."

Each winner received a scholarship and a statuette, representing a kid's palm with the apple of success in it.

The Manchester United striker has even reportedly dedicated the Barclays Golden Boot, a prestigious trophy that he shared with Manchester City's Carlos Tevez, to the successful Bulgarian children.

The players from Manchester's top football teams and rivals topped the Barclays Premier League goal scoring table for the season with 20 goals each.

Berbatov has demanded that the sponsor transfers the financial award, which is believed to stand at GBP 20,000, to his charity for the future encouragement of the children, according to unconfirmed reports.

The Foundation of the Manchester United star was established at the end of 2008 with the goal of helping children and young people realize their potential.

Dimitar Berbatov came back home just twenty-four hours after the champion's parade along Manchester streets.
