Happy Birthday, Sofia Morning News!

Novinite.com: 10 Years Old! | June 1, 2011, Wednesday // 15:34|  views

Exactly 10 years ago , on June 1, 2001, I decided that Bulgaria needs a reliable and independent online news source in English, coming to the mailbox every single day, 365 days a year.

I then sat down, and started writing stories, which my staff and I already had in mind back then. I thought for a couple of hours about the name of the newsletter and decided to call it "Breaking News".

It was 2001 and - trust me - everything in Bulgaria was "breaking" - The King was about to come back and - surprisingly - to become a Prime Minister, the real estate boom was a very near future, and hopes of millions Bulgarian and also thousands of expats and investors were more enthusiastic than ever.

Now 10 years later we, Bulgarians, have learned a lot.

We went through the most successful years in the new history and are now struggling among the deep economical crisis and complicated political issues. There were many lessons and we – at The Sofia Morning News - have learned these lessons well and continue to do this every day.

That is why, I would like warmly to say "Big Thanks" to you - The Readers - for your patience, understanding and commitment to The Sofia Morning News and Novinite.com (Sofia News Agency), by far the best Bulgarian media in English.

Special thanks to my partners in business Dr. George Velchev and Krassimir Katev, and also to the Editor-in-chief Mr. Ivan Dikov and his deputy Ms. Milena Hristova - great professionals and for sure among the best and high leveled top journalist I had ever met.

Let me assure you, my dear friends, that in the next 10 years The Sofia Morning News, its "mother" Novinite.com (Sofia News Agency) and all our businesses will be more independent, more professional and much more innovative.

God bless you all!
