Bulgaria's Producer Price Index Up 11% in April 2011 Y/Y

In April, 2011, the Total Producer Price Index in Industry in Bulgaria increased by 1.3%, compared to the previous month.

The Producer Price Index on domestic market in Bulgaria rose by 0.6% in April 2011, compared to the previous month.

The data was released Monday by the National Statistics Institute, NSI.

Domestic prices went up in the manufacturing and in the electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply sectors by 0.7%, while in the mining and quarrying industry prices fell by 0.9%.

In the manufacturing sector, the more significant price increases, compared to the previous month, were registered in the manufacturing of chemicals and chemical products - 1.8%, in the repair and installation of machinery and equipment - 1.4%; the manufacturing of apparel - 1.3%, and in the manufacturing of food products - 1.2%.

Producer Price Index on domestic market in April 2011 grew by 10.7%, compared to the same month of 2010. Domestic prices increased in the mining and quarrying industry by 7.2%; in the manufacturing industry - by 11.3%, and in the electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply sectors - by 10.8%.

In the manufacturing industry, the highest annual price increases were registered in the manufacturing of food products - 17.1%; in the manufacturing of basic metals - 11.9%; in the manufacturing of textile chemicals and chemical products - 10.9%.

Price reductions were noted in the manufacturing of tobacco products - down by 12.3% and in the manufacturing of other non-metallic mineral products - 2.5%.

In April, 2011, the Total Producer Price Index in Industry increased by 1.3%, compared to the previous month.

The highest prices were registered in the manufacturing industry - 1.6% and in the electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply sectors - 0.8%, while prices fell in the mining and quarrying industry – down by 1.9%.

In the manufacturing sector, more significant price increases were seen in the manufacturing of basic metals - 6.9%; in the manufacturing of chemicals and chemical products - 1.3%, and in the repair and installation of machinery and equipment - 1.1%.

The Total Producer Price Index in April 2011 grew by 12.5% compared to the same month of 2010.

In the manufacturing sectors, prices rose by 12.8%, compared to April 2010. More significant prices increases were seen in the manufacturing of basic metals - 30.3%; in the manufacture of food products - 15.3%, and in the manufacturing of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers - 10.5%, while producer prices went down in the manufacturing of tobacco products - 10.0%, and in the manufacturing of other non-metallic mineral products - 2.1%.
